Jeff Conaway to Be Taken Off Life Support

Grease star Jeff Conaway’s family members haave decided to turn off the actor’s life support system, marking a sad end to his battle with substance abuse.

The family, who has kept a vigil at the L.A. hospital where Conaway is in a coma after being found unconscious at home, say his fight will end.

"Doctors advised the family that Jeff has had no brain function since he was brought into the hospital," a source close to the situation said.

It looks unlikely that Jeff Conaway will emerge from his coma.

"The feeding tube has already been removed. The ventilator which is breathing for Jeff, will be removed sometime this afternoon.”

“Jeff is in no pain whatsoever."

It's unknown how Conaway will cope when the machine is switched off, but there will be no further attempts to resuscitate the actor.

"No measures will be made to try and revive him once the breathing tube is removed," the source said. "Jeff has remained unconscious."

The former Taxi star, now 60 years old, was hospitalized back on May 11 for what was though to be a prescription drug overdose.

Dr. Drew Pinsky, who treated Conaway on Celebrity Rehab, said the star was suffering from pneumonia and sepsis, a severe blood illness.

Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

I remember him in the movie Grease, what a great actor. I now watch my daughter admiring him in that same movie. I hope others will watch and learn what addictions will lead to. I pray that he has made his calling and election sure so that he may see Gods face in peace.

Jeff was a most entertaining actor, too bad he felt so unhappy in life may he rest peace, he was also very handsome in his younger years, I believe he never focused much on what he had to offer the world,. R.I.P.

It is really sad but, what we do to ourselves in our youth always comes back to bite us in the ass. Jeff has been miserable for many years and we all knew that this would not be a surprise when it happened. He tried to fight as best he could to stop this addiction but he couldn't take himself away from the people around him with addictions. He needed someone to take care of him and unfortunately those people couldn't even take care of themselves. At least he is out of pain and hopefully in a better place. RIP Jeff, you will be remembered for the work that you did.

The least talented actor and interesting character on Taxi, he shouldn't have quit. But no matter, he would have died early anyway.
