Amber Portwood Admits: I Suck at Parenting
Teen Mom star Amber Portwood appeared at child protective custody hearing this week and admitted she's been an "unfit mom" to daughter Leah.
Portwood appeared before a judge at Madison County (Ind.) Court for a case update after Leah was temporarily placed in dad Gary Shirley’s care.
Originally, Portwood had denied striking Gary in front of their baby, but said her home was not fit for Leah to live in, because it had no furniture.
This week, though, she "withdrew her previous denials."
EMBATTLED AMBER: Portwood is fighting hard to get it together.
Portwood is currently out on bail after being arrested on felony and misdemeanor charges stemming from a broadcast of Teen Mom in September of last year.
Not only did she smack around Gary, but Leah supposedly watched.
She was caught on camera slapping Gary Shirley, who was also at the hearing this week. Portwood is under strict supervision by Child Protective Services.
If they find that her living situation is unsuitable or that Leah is in any danger, she will be returned to her father. Possibly on a permanent basis this time.
While Gary has expressed a desire to have the restraining order against Amber lifted, Leah has been spending time with Gary’s new girlfriend of late.
Autumn Jones has been quietly dating Gary for nearly a month and not only is she playing second mother to Leah, she has one-year-old daughter too.
Gary and Amber have been communicating with each other despite the No Contact Order that prohibits them from doing so - and that they want lifted.
As of now, it remains in effect. The judge ordered both parties to appear before him once again at a later date for a custody update. Stay tuned.

FINALLY, she is at least doing something mature. She has admitted that she isn't doing the best as far as parenting.
Now to go from there and show your daughter she is your first priority.
Although, I am questioning Gary for having a woman he has known for only a month to watch his daughter. I mean seriously this child has been through a lot a little stability is needed for her. Not the best idea to have your daughter around a woman who may not be there later on. At least date the person for several months before introducing your daughter to them. It is confusing to small children when all of a sudden that person is gone from their lives. Leah has had enough I feel for that little girl.

well kim at least shes admiting that she has some problems not like jennele she has lots of problems in her life with her mother and alot of other things amber wish u luck

Where did it say she's working on her issues or getting help? I didn't hear a mention of any action plan she has going forward. She took step 1 and said she was a bad parent but without serious work nothing will change. Is she getting private therapy and parenting classes? She needs both badly and she should have had to prove some progress before Leah can be with her.A two year old should not be bounced back and forth between parents like this, they need routine and stability badly. I hope they really are keeping a close eye on her, the girl is unstable mentally.

Hey hey hey now! She's working on her issues ok. At least she can admit she has a problem, that's more that can be said about other mothers I know of... She knows she's not doing her job but since she loves her daughter she's getting help. I wish her luck!

Shocker. What a surprise. A 16-year-old spoiled bitch-brat sucks at being a mother.
