Glee Gets (Too?) Sexy for GQ

by at . Comments

Glee airs at the family-friendly hour of 8 p.m. and aims for a young demographic of viewers.

But this isn't a show that shies away from sex-related topics, as two students on the series have lost their virginity in one night stand-like situations; while the term "scissoring" was actually mentioned on last week's episode.

Now, Glee cast members Lea Michele, Dianna Agron and Cory Monteith have posed provocatively for GQ. Do these poses cross a line? You tell us...

As for the interview inside the magazine, we've posted the following excerpts.

Agron, on wanting Christopher Walken to guest star: “I don’t think people are too fond of that suggestion. I think they just want me to say Justin Timberlake or something.”

Michele, on being told she needed a nose job: "Fuck those people. That’s why I’m proud to be on a positive show and to be a voice for girls and say, ‘You don’t need to look like everybody else. Love who you are.’"

Monteith, on the future of Finn: “I wouldn’t put it past [Ryan Murphy] for Finn to go to military school at the end of season three, or for him to turn into the creepy janitor who gave up on his football dreams and stalks freshmen.”

I heard a rumor that a few years back christopher walken was caught having sex with then up and coming actor peter green of Pulp fiction "zed's dead" fame. Any confirmations or denials to this story?

i think they shouldn't do it because now people going to make comment's about lea she is so pretty but why she did that now fans are going start calling her trashy and a slut im not a big fan of glee i just watch it it was bad enough about kim kardashian nude mag why they had to do this just to get the ratings up.

It's just a bit sad that all these Hollywood shows think they need to do the sex thing. It's like noone has any individuality anymore.

I agree with you KC. I am sorry but a crotch shot is not sexy. Its just trashy. I think the line between sexy and trashy has been blurred to the point nowadays that people can no longer tell the difference. There are other ways to show how comfortable you are with your body and who you are. There are also other ways to promote a show. It seems very few girls leave anything to the imagination anymore. No wonder so many young guys see women as nothing more than a notch on the bed. So many woman portray themselves that way. I always wanted to make a guy work for it. Show me a good time, get to know me, treat me with respect and if he and I felt the same about each other, then he'd get to see the goods. This is not self-respect. There is nothing self-respecting about these photos.

I'm a teenager and I see nothing wrong with these shots. To be fair Glee has never been a show targetted at a preteen audience, but rather at an audience who is old enough to be comfortable with dealing with mature topics. Parents should let their kids watch High School Musical if they don't think Glee is apparopraite. Glee is a show which tackles issues which are often uncover or taboo amongst teenagers. Believe me...
As a young women it is inspiring to see other young women so comfortable with their bodies. The shoot was done as their characters, but as themeselves. These actors are overage and have all starred in mature roles before. People are panicing over nothing...

Big surprise that a lot of people are defending this behavior. Teenage girls definitely have no problem with this because THEY DON'T KNOW ANY BETTER! I've read that the ratings are low this season so that may have something to do with this pathetic attempt for ratings. No wonder there is so much teen pregnancy. Lea Michele, close your legs! Did you learn nothing from your mother?

It's blatantly obvious that GQ is NOT explicitly written for men. There have been countless magazine covers featuring Hollywood's handsome men and their shoots have been racy. Robert Pattinson, Johnny Depp, Taylor Lautner, Christopher Pine, Channing Tatum just to name a few. Clearly those issues were geared toward women. Either way, a picture is a picture and it does not define who they are as a person.
Also, this isn't the 1st time a young actress has been on any cover with more than bathing suit on. They could be pictured in a super skimpy bikini or even naked. It's not a big deal. At all. If you don't think your kids aren't already well aware about sex than you are very naaive. This magazine is not going to alter their views on the subject.

I am so tired of people acting like sexuality is some dirty little secret to be kept behind closed doors and having pointless moral panics.

I honestly don't see what the big deal is. For one thing Ryan Murphey created this show, it might seem like it's all rainbows and butterflies but it has some pretty strong sexual undertones, right from episode 1. Also GQ is not a magazine marketed for children, nor should young children or even young teens be reading GQ. YOu wouldn't hand your child a copy of Maxim and tell them to enjoy (though Naya Rivera did pose for Maxim) Yes the pictures are sexy and the one's of Lea are a bit extreme but I think they are fun too. They got the bodies, let them rock them while they still have them
