Lady Gaga Meat Dress: Tasty or Tasteless?

by at . Comments

"I never thought I'd be asking Cher to hold my meat purse." - Lady Gaga

Even by Lady Gaga standards, the meat dress she wore at the MTV VMAs was a bit of a fashion risk. She looked pretty tasty, though ... in more ways than one.

At first glance, she looked fairly unassuming when she accepted the award for Video of the Year (one of eight she won on the night). But when you look closely ...

Lady Gaga Meat Dress

You can expect Lady Gaga will be grilled over this fashion choice.

The "Bad Romance" singer explained the outrageous, juicy getup as such:

“Well, it is certainly no disrespect to anyone that is vegan or vegetarian, because as you know, I am the most judgment-free human being on the earth."

"However, it has many interpretations. For me this evening, if we don’t stand up for what we believe in and fight for our rights pretty soon, we’re going to have as much rights as the meat on our bones. And, I am not a piece of meat.”

There you have it. Tell us, though, did she cross the line with this one? Or is it among her best ever? What do you think of Lady Gaga's meat dress?

Even after 4 years ... still looks wierd.

Gaga is always on the move to make a ettaemsnt in everything she does, I don't think it has to do with the attention to her, more the attention to what she does and why. (Julian, as one who professes his love for K-Perry you don't really have a lot of room to condemn Gaga for posing)Is the meat dress in bad taste? To P.E.T.A. and similarly-minded parties, absolutely. However, even as someone who has seriously lessened his meat and dairy intake with the knowledge of where these things come from, I still own and wear a leather coat and leather boots in the winter. It basically is the same thing, just boiling something down to it's base materials, so it would be wrong of me to condemn Gaga's ettaemsnt as poor, especially as her whole message was on an entirely unrelated topic. Obviously she doesn't feel the same way as many people out there condemning her, but perhaps that's simply because no rationally-minded people have helped educate her on that topic as of yet.

Love Lady Gaga. I just wanted to point out however that the Meat dress was inspired by Artist- Jana Sterbak.
Vanitas: Flesh dress for an Albino Anorectic, 1987. I just think credit should be given to the original artist, because its a name everyone always seams to skip over or forget to mention.

It was heartening to see a lady dancing in meat dress. It so appeared that she had left behind miles apart clemency to lving beings. Anyhow, what she wanted to depict in covering her body with raw meat. No yardstick of justification could hold this act of hers to be of any standard when she went to hide her body in meat. It so appeared that no one on globe castigated her so that she may not take liberty in showing her body that clumsy manner. Lord Jesus may bestow upon her and good senses may prevail upon her that in future she is not seen in that wardrobe. R.K.Jain, Advocate

"Parasite Alert" (and "Mad Cow Disease Alert" too)": This dress may pose a health risk to this talented singer. The raw meat may be infested with tiny parasites. Some microscopic parasites can get into the body through the scalp, arm pits, bottom of the feet, and through the pores in general. If we notice Lady Ga Ga getting sick following this "meat dress" incident, I would suggest that her doctor check for parasites and also Mad Cow disease. Her outfits don't really do anything for me and I'm sure this outfit does even less for the cow whose life was wasted just so Ga Ga could make a statement. Regardless, I heard through a friend that she is a talented singer.

That was once somethings FLESH. I have lost ALL respect for Lady Gaga...
And Sara... We were talking about the dress. Not about eating meat.
We don't "need" meat to stay alive. Yes, It's a source of protein, but so is peanut butter. And eggs. And cheese.
