Murder Charges Filed Against Bruce Beresford-Redman
It won't be long until former TV producer Bruce Beresford-Redman is arrested for killing his wife.
According to the suspect's attorney, Jaime Cancino Leon, prosecutors will make their decision early next week - and the most likely charge will be first-degree murder, stemming from the death of Monica Beresford-Redman last month in Cancun.
Cancino told TMZ he's displeased with Mexican officials because it's easier for them to simply charge his client than actually investigate the case.
"Bruce has never had the chance to defend himself," the lawyer said. "They didn't even give him the chance to participate in the investigation."
If a Mexican judge determines there's probable cause to charge Beresford-Redman, he'll likely get extradited to that country. A conviction of of first-degree murder there results in a prison sentence of four to 20 years.
** UPDATE: As of Monday, May 31, 2010, these charges have been filed.

Bruce's lawyer's defense is weak. If there is a so called history of crime at this resort then more the reason Bruce took her there to commit the crime. He is the one that changed their original plans and picked this resort. Also what is the motive for a strnger to kill her and conceal her body without raping her or robbing her?

"Particpate in the investigation" Say what?
Since when does one who has been charged with a capital offence get to "particpate" in the investigation?

Well put, Laura. And from Monica's side... I'm sick of "celebrity legal experts" like Robin Sax and others opining on this case: I wish they'd use the influence of her celebrity and resources for good, to get these women (The Burgos Family) the help they need and deserve. Clearly their legal camp is not up to the task of fully understanding the uphill battle they have in dealing with the strategizing genius of a sociopath with money and international contacts developed during the Survivor producer years to "get things done." Triessel et al, are in over their heads. These TV lawyers know it... everyone knows it.

Yes, he has NEVER had the chance to defend himself because every time he was summoned by the Mx authorities he wouldn't show up. He fled Mexico like a rat. That's the reason he hasn't had the chance to defend himself from something that ultimately is not defendable.
