The Grey's Anatomy cast just keeps getting bigger.
With today's news that Kim Raver, a.k.a. Dr. Teddy Altman, has been promoted to a full-time star, the ABC medical drama now boasts 14 series regulars.
What does Kim's signing mean for Katherine Heigl's long-term status at Seattle Grace? And what about Cristina (Sandra Oh) and Owen (Kevin McKidd)?
Katherine has already missed numerous episodes this season, both for shooting movies and maternity leave. But she remains under contract ... for now.
Kim Raver is picking up Katherine Heigl's Grey's Anatomy slack.
On the romance front, Kevin (Owen) and Sandra (Cristina) are shooting romantic scenes together for new episodes, so Kim might be the odd girl out.
She'll be a force to be reckoned with on the show in general, though. Raver will appear in all but one of the 12 episodes left in the current sixth season.
This season has been a transitional one at Grey's Anatomy, with Katherine Heigl and Ellen Pompeo missing huge chunks of time and T.R. Knight gone.
At the same time, new characters have been introduced that have helped fill the void and turn the long-running show into more of an ensemble effort.
