Bryce Dallas Howard Hopes to Honor Rachelle Lefevre, Role as Victoria
It didn't take long for Bryce Dallas Howard to be thrown into the Twilight Saga fire.
In July, it was announced that the actress would take over the role of Victoria from Rachelle Lefevre in Eclipse. The casting news set off a firestorm among fans of this franchise.
The anger has died down a bit over the last few months, but will likely start up again as we inch closer to the June 30, 2010 release date of the third Twilight movie. In a recent interview, though, Howard sought to quiet her critics.
She had nothing but nice things to say about Lefevre when asked about replacing her in this key role.
"Rachelle really created an incredible character and is exquisite. I fell like the uproar that occurred was really appropriate, because... you’ve seen the actors grow with the franchise. And [Lefevre’s] unavailability [to do Eclipse] was really, really, really unfortunate," Howard said.
As for joining the Twilight Saga cast, which consists of such A-listers as Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, Howard gushed:
"I was really struck by what an incredible group of young people are in that franchise. Their friendships are so genuine, and they really ground each other. There’s a lot of attention and scrutiny, but I’m truly moved by how solid they’ve remained in their values and belief systems and their caring of one another throughout all of that."

Let's think logically about this. It makes sense that everyone involved with the Twilight series of movies signed contracts to work in all four films. And because of the wild success of the Twilight movies, no cast member in their right mind would jeopardize being replaced for any reason. It makes sense that some would choose to work on films in between but not to the point of forfeiting their contracted roles in any of Twilight movies. The role of Victoria is very big in Eclipse and there is absolutely no way Rachelle Lefevre would have ever done anything to facilitate her being replaced in her biggest role in the series because she was involved in some other lesser film production. She had a contract. I hope lawyers were involved. I'm sure Brice, who at age 29 or 30 and who has not had a leading actress role in a major blockbuster, cried to daddy to get her the role of Victoria in Eclipse. And....he did. I hope he had to contribute a ridiculous and significant amount of money

Lefevre barely had anything to do with the two movies--really not enough to say she made an impact, just a presence, and won't be missed as much as you think she will. Howard is by far a much better actress, which in turn will create a better movie for us to watch.
Same thing happened when Pattinson was cast. EVERYONE hated the choice, but look how much everyone loves him now.

tsk tsk.. i really hate it when something like this--recasting--happens. it screws everything else. that's why the first pick should be the best, because for a series type of movie, recasting is the biggest darn sin one could ever commit. imagine harry potter being replaced in one of the movies, instead of daniel radcliffe. it sucks, right? rachelle does become the character. you can't change what the people have loved already.

NO I am not ready to accept Bryce Dallas Howard as our Victoria. They can fluff it up all they want & sugarcoat it with pretty words, but in the end, we all know that our much beloved Rachelle Lafevre got screwed over big time in this. And yeah, I am still pissed about it. Watching New Moon just brought it all right back to the surface. It makes me to not want to watch the rest of the movies in the twilight saga.....but like most everyone else who feels the same way I do, I'll probably end upp watching them to support the other actors & because, how can I not?? It's twilight for the love of Edward & I have OCD!
