Patrick Swayze Passes Away at 57
Following an extended battle with cancer, Patrick Swayze passed away today. He was 57.
The veteran actor was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2008. He died this afternoon at home, with family by his side, confirmed Swayze's rep, who added:
"Patrick Swayze passed away peacefully today with family at his side after facing the challenges of his illness for the last 20 months."
Said Ghost co-star Whoopi Goldberg of her friend:
"Patrick was a really good man, a funny man and one to whom I owe much that I can't ever repay," says Goldberg, who won a best supporting actress Oscar for her role in the 1990 romantic drama. I believe in Ghost's message, so he'll always be near.
Aside from Ghost, Swayze was best known for roles in Dirty Dancing, and Road House. He was named People's Sexiest Man Alive in 1991.

I'm so sad to hear about Patrick's passing. Dirty Dancing, Ghost, and To Wong Fu are among my favorite movies to watch over and over again.
His strong character, talent, and courage should be recognized and held up as an example of what it is to be a decent human being. We're so lacking in these examples today. It's just sad. God rest your soul, Patrick.

RIP Patrick, you were a great human being. Here we have a wonderful hard working, life loving guy, he had a strong relationship with his wife and they were married for many many years. Then in other news the Gosselin relationship is being reported on constantly....Jon and Kate have NOTHING on Patrick. These two should take some pointers and what marriage and success is really like. It's really a shame that as a society we put people like Jon and Kate on a pedastal when there are so many other worthy people to talk about.
