Lindsey Graham on Caitlyn Jenner

U.S. Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) wants Caitlyn Jenner to know she is welcome in the Republican party ... and should totally vote for him in 2016!

Graham, who's running for president along with half of the GOP, was asked about the former Bruce Jenner and her Republican affiliation.

"If Caitlyn Jenner wants to be safe and have a prosperous economy, vote for me," he said, noting, "I haven't walked in her shoes."

"I don't have all the answers to the mysteries of life. I can only imagine the torment Bruce Jenner went through. I hope she has found peace."

Caitlyn (then Bruce) said in her interview with Diane Sawyer that she is a proud Republican. Of course, she is also now an LGBTQ icon.

Graham, meanwhile, emphasized that he does not support gay marriage, but suggested he's willing to soften his stance on the issue.

"The courts are gonna rule probably in June about traditional marriage," he said, and whatever happens, "I will accept the court's decision."

"I believe in traditional marriage without animosity," he added, implying that the GOP should reach a truce on this to focus on fiscal issues.

So far, Caitlyn has not said which of the 2016 presidential candidates she supports - Democratic or Republican - in the coming election.
