So much for all that controversy over Castle Season 9.
Following weeks of complaining from viewers over the firing of Stana Katic, along with the strong possibility that Castle would continue without one of its two leads, ABC has gone ahead and canceled the long-running season.
It made this announcement on Thursday, May 12.
What other shows have gotten the axe for the 2016-2017? Scroll down for a look and let’s mourn the news together…
Castle
Beckett and Castle walk the streets in this scene from Season 8 of Castle. There will not be a Season 9, according to ABC.
Nashville
The folks on Nashville will not be singing any new material on a fifth season.
Agent Carter
Hayley Atwell will star in a new ABC series in the fall, but she’s done as Agent Carter.
Galavant
Galavant was a fun idea. Alas, it only lasted two seasons.
The Family

The only thing scary about The Family was how small the audience was.
The Muppets
The adult reboot didn’t work. But we’ll always have the movies!
CSI: Cyber
Stunning that a show with “Cyber” in the title didn’t make it, huh?
Mike and Molly
Mike and Molly was fun. But we’d prefer to see Melissa McCarthy in movies anyway.
Person of Interest
Person of Interest has a strong run on CBS. Its cancelation was announced prior to its final season.
Bordertown

Bordertown was an animated series on Fox. You’re forgiven if you didn’t know this.
Grandfathered
Not even the handsome face of John Stamos could get Grandfathered to a second season on Fox.
The Grinder
Not even the handsome face of Rob Lowe could get The Grinder to a second season on Fox.
Containment
Julie Plec can’t succeed at EVERYthing, apparently. Containment will not see a second season.
Of Kings & Prophets
You”re forgiven if you forgot Of Kings & Prophets was ever on ABC. It only aired two episodes.
Angel from Hell
Angel from Hell made it to five episodes on CBS. It then received the axe.
The Good Wife
The Good Wife could have aired an eighth season. But its creators were leaving after Season 7 and CBS agreed with star Julianna Margulies that it was time to say goodbye.
Limitless
There was hope that Limitless would get picked up by another network. However, despite a strong freshman season on CBS, this will not happen.
The Mysteries of Laura
No offense to Debra Messing, but it was a mystery to us how this show lasted beyond Season 1.
