The 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After? Season 4 Tell All special has just begun and it’s already full of drama.
But that special was filmed a few months ago.
Since then, things between Ashley and Jay have grown worse, not better.
Jay was arrested and now awaits deportation, but even so, he refuses to sign divorce papers — the ones that Ashley filed back in April.
Ashley says that she knows exactly why he won’t sign — because he’s gunning for half of her property.
She also explains exactly why his greedy scheme will never work.
Ashley’s marriage is over at last
But that doesn’t mean that her troubles are behind her. Jay isn’t letting her go without a fight.
Jay could NOT stop cheating
First, he downloaded Tinder right after their wedding and began chatting up a high school student. He even invited the 18-year-old girl to Ashley’s home. Thankfully, Ashley interrupted things before they went beyond video chatting, but … yikes.
She tried to make it work
Ashley took weeks of trying to move past such a sudden and cruel betrayal … only for Jay to bang a girl in a barbershop bathroom. Ashley went asking around to see if Jay had MENTIONED some other girl, and was instead treated to that story, plus a video of Jay getting roughed up for disrespecting the establishment like that.
Ashley filed for divorce after that
She sought no-fault divorce, just wanting to get it over with. And then … she had her health crisis. Just 11 days later, she withdrew the filing for divorce. She would give Jay yet another chance after the way that he had rushed to her side.
But that wasn’t the end
Ashley and Jay reconciled in January. Then, in the first half of April, Ashley used a series of Instagram Stories to accuse Jay of cheating on her yet again. This time, she filed for divorce again, accusing Jay of adultery.
It actually gets worse
On July 1, after Jay allegedly broke into her home while she was on vacation, Ashley filed a PFA — a Protection From Abuse order. She has explained that she has evidence that there was “a lot of abuse” in her marriage which enabled the order to be granted. That is more serious than cheating.
Jay was promptly arrested
Jay then spoke about the PFA on social media, a direct violation of the order itself. Law enforcement saw this and placed a warrant for his arrest. Jay turned himself in and was placed in ICE custody. He continues to await deportation.
But these two aren’t done with each other yet …
Ashley laments that Jay has yet to sign the divorce papers, and she says that she knows why he’s dragging his heels.
Ashley explained it all in an Instagram Q&A
“He is requesting half of everything I own,” Ashley reveals. “That’s why he won’t sign.” They weren’t even married for a full year. It’s not clear how he expects to walk away with half of Ashley’s (believed to be considerable) assets.
Ashley isn’t too worried
“My attorney is a savage,” Ashley shares with glee. “You should see the cease and desist letters that just went out”
Ashley is prepared for this
“I’m not worried about anyone taking anything,” she promises. “I may have made a bad decision, but I’m not stupid. I guess being burned in the past helped me in this situation”
She offers some key advice
“A little advice from me is to save EVERYTHING!!! Receipts don’t lie,” she suggests. “I saved it all from Day 1 and thank god I did.”
Here’s some very specific advice:
“If your significant other goes through your phone, email the stuff to an email they don’t know about,” Ashley suggests. “Be smart!” Also, if your significant other goes through your phone, break up with them as soon as it is safe. No one has the right to do that to you.
A quick note:
By the way, when she says “receipts,” she probably means literal receipts (evidence that Jay was cheating) and also non-literal receipts. For example, screenshots of text conversations, photos or video or audio evidence of any kind of misbehavior.
Still, what a sad ending to this story
Ashley and Jay were just two beautiful people who wanted to be married and live in the US together. At least, that’s what we thought at first. It seems like Jay was never going to be content with that.
Jay keeps repeating the same odd claim
Any time that his rampant cheating comes up, Jay seems to mumble something about how that’s not the whole story or how somehow it was Ashley’s fault that he was laying extramarital pipe.
Nobody buys it
Maybe it would help if Jay offered some sort of evidence or argument that supports his claim that Ashley’s somehow the real villain, but he doesn’t, he just insinuates that it’s the case and then stops. Don’t do that. Say what you have to say or don’t say anything at all.
This could take a while
Divorce battles can be ugly business. And Ashley has always seemed to be, well, more affluent and comfortable than a lot of her 90 Day Fiance castmates. Jay has nothing to lose and everything to gain by fighting tooth and nail, especially if he finds a divorce attorney to work on spec.
But Ashley is confident
If she had enough evidence to quickly obtain a PFA — which is no easy feat — she probably has enough evidence to show divorce court exactly what sort of husband Jay was to her during their short, toxic marriage. And that’s before she gets into the cheating and the suspicion that he married her in the hopes of obtaining a green card.
For now, it’s a matter of time
Then, one day, Ashley can finally put this ugly mess behind her and move on.
