Ashley Martson and Jay Smith are still married on the currently airing episodes of 90 Day Fiance: Happily Ever After?
In real life, Ashley accused Jay of cheating on her yet again last month.
This time, it was too much (and she’s hinted that the scandal is worse than anyone imagines and will “shock” fans).
Ashley filed for divorce.
Yes, it was reported that she filed for divorce in January and took it back after only 11 days. But this time, it’s for keeps, right?
That’s what fans thought … until Ashley and Jay both posted a series of gorgeous wedding photos of the two of them.
They’re not old pictures — they were snapped this week. WTF?
What is going on?!?
That’s what fans wondered on Wednesday when both Ashley and Jay shared a series of beautifully taken photos — wedding photos.
It’s over-the-top
Ashley has a beautiful dress, her hair is done, her makeup is done, she has crystals woven into her hair.
See?
Combined with the volume of flowers and the venue itself, this sounds all kinds of expensive.
And Jay’s no slouch, either
90 Day Fiance fans are used to Jay looking hot, but he clearly cleans up well, too.
But what’s the deal?
It hasn’t even been a month since Ashley exposed Jay for cheating on her again and taunted him about getting deported.
In fact …
It’s been an even shorter time since she actively filed for divorce.
And didn’t Jay have something else to do on Wednesday?
Jay was supposed to have a deportation hearing — a very big deal — scheduled for May 8. That was, for the record, Wednesday, the same date as this photoshoot.
Is all of that drama suddenly over?
Do these gorgeous photos signify that they put aside their squabbles and renewed their vows, canceling (for the second time) their divorce filing and somehow smoothing things over with immigration?
LOL, no!
As Ashley was careful to explain, this photo shoot was totally fake — but she promises that it wasn’t intended to trick fans.
Ashley explains how it came together
Basically, this was a prior commitment — one made a whopping nine months ago. Folks, we’re talking August of 2018.
Those were happier times
At that point, Jay had only cheated on Ashley … maybe three times? (Allegedly at least twice before he left Jamaica, but those don’t count because Ashley said that she didn’t care, and then of course the Tinder Incident after their wedding)
There was also a financial money
Ashley revealed that she bit the bullet because she was getting paid. Hey, if you’re getting an all-expenses paid Nikon photoshoot and getting paid for it, spending one day around your cheating ex might be worth it.
Ashley explained a little more alongside the BTS pics
“Thank you so much @kiamariestone for selecting us as models for the @nikonusa shoot,” Ashley captions. “This shoot has been in the making for 9 months and they did an amazing job! I cannot wait to see the photos. Here are some behind the scenes photos. Yes, we may not be together, but if I agree to do something I’m gonna do it.”
This may have been their first reunion in weeks
Ashley has previously stated that they keep in touch for important stuff — like paperwork — but otherwise do not speak socially.
She obviously kicked him out of the house
Last we heard, Jay was living in her hotel — but at one point, Ashley expressed that she didn’t know exactly where he was staying.
So what happened?
Well, Jay blew it. On April 15, Ashley took to her Instagram Stories to expose him, strongly implying that he was cheating again and even taunting him that he would likely be deported.
She confirmed that she accused him of cheating
Even in her divorce filing (on page 5, in fact), Ashley accuses Jay of adultery.
She even called out his alleged mistress
Jay has disputed that this woman was his mistress, which leads 90 Day Fiance fans to wonder exactly how many other women he was boning when he was supposed to be loving and cherishing Ashley.
This photoshoot also solves a little mystery
See, last month, Ashley mentioned that she was in the market for a male model
She even had a specific date in mind
May 8 — the same date on which Jay reportedly had a deportation hearing. Jay … must have had a very busy Wednesday.
So much for OUR guess
We had (jokingly!) suggested that it would be hilarious is Ashley showed up in the gallery at Jay’s deportation hearing with some ridiculous hottie by her side in a transparent ploy to remind Jay of all that he’s lost.
But now it seems clear
Ashley was almost certainly just looking for someone in the area to be a handsome part of a fake wedding party.
These pics barely scratch the surface
So far, we’ve only seen the behind-the-scenes glimpses that Ashley and Jay shared. The actual photoshoot has yet to be released, but we’ll be excited to see it.
This isn’t their first staged wedding
The exes held a non-binding wedding ceremony in Jamaica for the benefit of Jay’s family, since they would not be able to attend in the US. That sounds considerably less awkward than this paid photoshoot, however. Oh well. Soon, they’ll be out of each other’s hair for good.
