When it comes to her personal struggles, Amber Portwood is not always as forthcoming as some of her Teen Mom co-stars.
Amber has been through a lot over the years, and sometimes she would understandably prefer to not share her most painful moments with fans.
But Amber seems to understand that sometimes she can help others who might be struggling by opening up about her own heartache.
And she’s done exactly that this week by opening up about one of the more difficult times in her life.

In a preview for next week’s episode of Teen Mom OG, Amber and Andrew stop by to visit Gary and Leah, as well as Gary’s wife, Kristina Anderson.
The Procedures
Gary reveals that he’s planning to have a vasectomy, as Kristina once had a miscarriage after having her tubes tied.
A Suprising Revelation
It’s then that Amber reveals she once had a miscarriage herself.

“I never told anyone, but when I was with Matt I had a miscarriage,” Portwood said.
One Sad Story
Gary’s wife revealed that doctors were able to detect a heartbeat, but that she would be unable to carry the baby to term.
There For Each Other
Amber was genuinely sympathetic and revealed that her situation wasn’t quite as harrowing as Kristina’s.
No Heartbeat
“I didn’t hear the heartbeat or anything,” Portwood revealed. “I didn’t even have to go to the hospital.
Lending Support
“But like, it’s really sad,” Portwood continued. “I’m so sorry you had to go through that.”
Matt Speaks Out
Speaking with Radar Online, Matt revealed that he was heartbroken by the miscarriage and agreed not to speak out it publicly until Amber did,
A Solemn Promise
“I promised her a long time ago that anything that happened in our private life would stay private until she wanted to discuss it,” Baier said.
A Man of His Word
“I will always honor that,” Baier continued.
A Painful Discussion
“It was a really difficult time for both of us,” Baier told Radar. “Even now, it’s difficult to think about.” And we’re sure it’s on Amber’s mind every day, as well.
