Teen Mom OG has gone through so many changes recently.
Sometimes it barely even seems like the show we’ve watched for years now.
Farrah Abraham and Ryan Edwards both left, and Bristol Palin and Cheyenne Floyd joined the cast.
Gone are the days of keeping up with those four girls from the first season of 16 and Pregnant.
Like, Sarah Palin was featured on the last season. That’s how weird things have gotten.
But as bizarre as things are now on our beloved reality show, things might be getting even worse by the time the next season rolls around.
Because Amber Portwood really might be quitting.
Oh, Honey …

Amber had a very, very hard time last season. Worse than usual, even.
On the Bright Side …
Sure, she wasn’t high out of her mind like she was in the old days, and she didn’t commit any felonies on camera, either.
Yay?
Actually, now that she’s with Andrew and they share precious little baby James, she’s really seemed to calm down a lot.
Uh Oh
No, Amber’s most recent issues have been very different: she’s been suffering from postpartum depression.
Mental Health

That’s on top of her previously diagnosed bipolar disorder and borderline personality disorder.
Fair Enough
As you can imagine, she was in a really bad place.
Confession

As she revealed on the show, things were so bad that she’d even contemplated suicide.
So Sad
In a conversation with her cousin, Amber said that things had just felt different since she had James. Her relationship with Andrew was different, and even though she’d been depressed before, the postpartum depression felt different, too.
Oh No
“There was a night that I was waiting for him and James to go to bed so I could kill myself,” she confessed.
Thank Goodness
She said that Andrew was able to tell that something was off with her, so after he put James to bed, he stayed up with her and refused to leave her alone.
Heartbreaking
“It was not feeling good to go and do things,” Amber cried. “It doesn’t feel good to be alive right now.”
And Then There’s Leah
In addition to the postpartum depression, she was also feeling a lot of guilt about the way she was raising James versus the way she was with Leah when she was a baby.
Well …
“And I have people saying to me, like, why couldn’t you do this for Leah?” she complained. “It was like, I was young and stupid.”
Help from Friends
Amber said that she’d been talking to Catelynn because she knew she’d suffered from severe postpartum depression as well, and Cate actually paid her a visit so they could talk face to face.
No Rehab for Amber
Cate brought up the idea of going to an inpatient treatment center like she did, but Amber didn’t think it was the right choice for her since her son was still so young.
Instead …
But she did think a break was in order — a break from the show.
Separation
âÂÂI think I should separate myself from the show,â she said in a conversation with Larry, an executive producer. âÂÂI just donâÂÂt feel like this is right for my life anymore, seeing that you guys want a certain kind of story that I just donâÂÂt want to give you anymore. I just feel like itâÂÂs very different from a reality show anymore.âÂÂ
Done
When Larry wanted to work things out with her, she told him âÂÂIf you guys need to do what you need to do on your end, then f-cking do it ⦠IâÂÂm done.”
Getting Serious
This aired in December, though obviously it was filmed earlier.
Not Backing Down
And back in November, she was talking about quitting on Twitter.
Heartache
âÂÂThe heartache this show has put me through is too much to bear anymore,â she wrote. “If I will not be shown then thereâÂÂs nothing more to do. My name will not get smeared anymore. I hope everyone is resting easy with the money theyâÂÂve made off of heartache and pain that IâÂÂve endured.âÂÂ
Uh, OK
And then when they taped the reunion special, she showed up late in a shirt that said “Sorry I’m Late, I Didn’t Want to Come.”
Cool
She kept it classy by flipping everyone off when she came on set, and when it was her turn to talk, she said “You want a certain story that I donâÂÂt want to give you anymore. I feel like itâÂÂs depressing to be on the show.âÂÂ
SO Done
So really, she couldn’t have been more clear. She’s done with Teen Mom.
But Wait
OR IS SHE?!
Oh …
Amber did an interview on E!’s Daily Pop this week, and while she was there, she was asked if she was still a Teen Mom.
There It Is
“I am, through and through,” she answered. “I’ve been with this franchise for 10 years now, such a long time, and I just don’t want to see the show go down like that. I wanna amp it up a little more.”
It’s All Coming Together

She said the reason she wanted to quit in the first place was that she felt she wasn’t getting enough support while struggling with her depression — “It seemed that at the time I wasn’t getting the attention that I feel like other stars were getting,” she explained.
Oh, Amber
“But I was going to a psychiatrist and I had a really good support system, great family. Actually, now today, I’m feeling amazing. I’ve really changed for the better going through that… I never felt anything like that before in my life. It came out of nowhere and it scared the crap out of me, honestly.”
Doing Her Part
She also said that she wants to stay on the show so she can “help people with what I’ve been through,” and that next season, we can expect to “see a whole different side of me and my love, Andrew.”
Hooray!
So it’s settled … Amber’s not going anywhere. Lucky us, right?
