It’s safe to say these TV shows did not go out on top. We consider them the worst finales in TV history.
How I Met Your Mother
It still makes us angry to think about. We finally met the mother. We fell in love with the mother. And then the show killed off the mother, broke up Barney and Robin and stuck Ted with Robin, all in a matter of a few closing (AWFUL!) minutes.
Sons of Anarchy
It was boring AND predictable. There was no reason for FX to air what amounted to a full-length movie, just to have Jax do what we could all see coming weeks before the finale aired.
Dexter
It killed off Deb out of nowhere and turned Dexter into a lumberjack, while leaving Harrison to be raised by Hannah. Totally ridiculous all around.
Lost
Wait… what was the side world again?!? The only thing we know for sure about how Lost ended is that the writers had no plan for it until the last second.
True Blood
So much for the notion of loving whomever you want to love: Bill killed himself and Sookie ended up with some random human. A series that celebrated the differences in people went out as a total and complete hypocrite.
Gossip Girl
Nothing could really have saved the terrible final season, Dan as Gossip Girl? Gag us with a spoon.
The Sopranos
Some loved it. But most thought their cable went out at the very end. That can’t be a good thing.
Weeds

Easily the laziest series finale ever. Weeds just skipped ahead 8 years and abandoned any notion of organic storytelling.
Seinfeld

Seinfeld, a show about nothing, tried to be about something for its finale. FAIL.
Big Love
Wait… what happened to Joey and Wanda? What about Tinny? The finale Big Love episode left many characters dangling… and it killed off Bill!
Desperate Housewives
Desperate Housewives concluded with a few ghosts coming out to say hello and a new housewife, with a secret of her own moving in. Yes, we said GHOSTS.
