It has been 25 years since the original recording of “We Are The World” raised over $63 million for refugee famine relief in Africa. A whole new group of 80+ global superstars assembled to record a new version of the Michael Jackson and Lionel Richie song — this time for the people of Haiti. The producer of both productions was Quincy Jones.
According to Richie, it was intentional that none of the singing participants from the original recording were present and all who entered the recording studio were asked to kindly check their egos at the door.
The choral cast included: Pink, Lil Wayne, Kanye West, Nick Jonas, LL Cool J, Robin Thicke, Celine Dion, Akon, Rob Thomas, Wyclef Jean, Jeff Bridges, Vince Vaughn, Barbra Streisand, Jordin Sparks, Joel Madden and Benji Madden.
