Free agent Tim Tebow has picked up an armchair quarterback gig as a college football analyst on the SEC network after sitting out an entire NFL season.

The Heisman Trophy winner has been hired to appear on ‘SEC Nation,’ a pre-game show that will have him traveling to a different campus each week beginning in August 2014.

According to ESPN, who operates the SEC network, Tebow has signed a multi-year deal. They have provided assurances to their newest on-air talent that the analyst job “will not preclude him from continuing to pursue playing opportunities in the NFL.”

Senior VP Justin Connolly called Tebow an “SEC icon with a national fan base and broad appeal.”

Tebow told the media, “While I continue to pursue my dream of playing quarterback in the NFL, this is an amazing opportunity to be part of the unparalleled passion of college football and the SEC.”

His pro career began in Denver in 2010 and ended abruptly when the Broncos signed free agent Peyton Manning at the end of 2011. Tebow landed as a backup QB with the New York Jets but was released after throwing eight passes during the 2012 season.

He went on to play two pre-season games as a New England Patriot before being released on August 31, 2013.
