The Final Five contestants on The Biggest Loser: Couples 4 were visited by their fairy godfather Tim Gunn during Week 18 for a glam makeover.
Austin Andrews, 21, of Pasedena, CA, Hannah Curlee, 32, Nashville, TN, Irene Alvarado, 27, Portland, OR, Jay Jacobs, 53, West Orange, NJ, and Olivia Ward, 35, of New York City, were all buffed and fluffed by beauty expert Ken Paves.
Olivia, who has dropped 75 pounds, was reunited with her husband Ben, who has lost 98 pounds. Hannah, sister to Olivia, is down 90 pounds, and was reunited with their father. Austin reunited with his mother, and Jay with his son.
The families were treated to a private performance by OneRepublic.
Back on campus, they all competed for two 2011 Mazda 5 vehicles. They had to find car keys in sand castles shaped like cars, and run across a wood plank bridge to see if the key would work in the ignition of either car. The entire process took nearly two hours. The two victors were Olivia and Irene.
At the weigh-in, Austin dropped 7 pounds, Olivia lost 4, Jay shed 3, Hannah and Irene each lost 2. Landing below the yellow line were Hannah and Jay. In a surprise twist, fairy godfather Tim Gunn reappeared, as if by magic, and granted a final wish … nobody was eliminated this week.
This is likely the result of the sudden departure the previous week of Rulon Gardner, a former Olympic champion, who left the show in a huff after a former Biggest Loser Season 7 contestant, Tara Costa, beat him in a half mile car pulling challenge that ended in a photo finish. The prize was a VIP Pass to the Richmond International Speedway, $5,000 and the opportunity to appear on a Wheaties box.
After two more weeks of competition episodes, the NBC Biggest Loser finale will air on May 24, 2011.
