Madonna – the original “material girl” – is being sued by clothing company L.A. Triumph, Inc. for allegedly ripping off the ‘Material Girl’ trademark the company has used for it’s clothing since 1997.
Earlier this year, Madonna launched her Material Girl junior clothing line and L.A. Triumph is suing her for ripping off the name.
L.A. Triumph seeks a declaration from a federal judge that Madonna’s use of “Material Girl” creates “deception” in the marketplace.
In addition to the declaration, the clothing company is asking the judge to order Madonna and her company to turn over all of the profits they’ve made from their clothing line.
Madonna’s camp has not issued a statement.
