Katie Couric and her boyfriend of two years, John Molner, got engaged over the Labor Day weekend.
The perky television talk show host confirmed through her rep that “Molner popped the question with a spectacular diamond ring at sunset on the beach in East Hampton, N.Y.”
They were last publicly photographed a week ago taking in a US Open Tennis championship match in Flushing, New York.
He is head of mergers and acquisitions at Brown Brothers Harriman. She went public with their relationship in April 2012, telling a reporter, “He’s great. He’s from Chicago. I love Midwesterners!”
Couric has been a widow since 1998, when her husband Jay Monahan died of colon cancer. She has raised their two daughters as a single parent for the past 15 years.
Ellie Monahan is 21 and her younger sister Carrie is 17.
