Justin Bieber was arrested early Thursday morning in Miami Beach for DUI after officers witnessed the teen drag racing in a rented yellow Lamborghini without a valid drivers license.
Miami Herald news partner CBS4 broke the story about the pop singer, who has been spotted in the area over the past few days.
Bieber and his group reportedly blocked traffic in order to create a drag strip in a residential neighborhood on Pine Tree Drive at 27th Street.
The underage Canadian singer was booked and processed into Miami-Dade County’s Main Jail at 4:00 a.m. after failing a field sobriety test. He is expected to remain in the lockup until bail has been set and a hearing scheduled. Also arrested was Island Def Jam recording artist Khalil, 19.
Miami Beach Police Chief Raymond Martinez told the Herald, “Tests show that Bieber was under the influence of drugs. He was incoherent, had his hands in his pockets and resisted arrest without violence,” while spewing a string of f-bombs.
He reportedly told the arresting officer that he had a beer, was under the influence of anti-depressants and had been smoking marijuana all day.
The Opa-locka Police Department is also investigating an officer who gave Bieber and his posse an unauthorized police escort through traffic after they landed at an area airport. Two officers have been relieved of duty pending the outcome of the probe.
TMZ posted images of Justin at the King of Diamonds Monday night, where he supposedly threw down $75K to reserve the entire top level of the facility for himself, his crew and four handpicked lady lap dancers. New York Daily News indicates that Bieber’s team is urging the singer to check into rehab, to deal with an alleged drug addiction to a codeine mixture known as “sizzurp,” and alleged abuse of prescription drugs. Among those deeply concerned for his welfare is former girlfriend Selena Gomez.
