TODAY special correspondent Jenna Bush Hager gave the NBC morning show the exclusive confirmation that she and Henry Hager are expecting a springtime baby.
The 31-year-old twin daughter of former President George W. Bush and First Lady Laura Bush, got teary eyed as she was joined on the set by her husband, who was carrying a floral bouquet that he presented to her.
Admitting that she is “hormonal” and surprised that they were able to keep the secret under wraps for so long, the mother-to-be announced, “I’m nervous and so excited to say that we’re pregnant… I’m pregnant. I’m a first time mother and it’s something I’ve always wanted.”
In a phone conversation that was broadcast live from Dallas, viewers heard Jenna’s parents gush about being first time grandparents and we also learned that she calls her dad “Popsicle.”
When Matt Lauer asked W what he wants his grandkids to call him, he quipped, “Sir.” He was quick to add, “Yeah, I’m fired up, looking forward to it.”
A British website broke the story yesterday – baby bump photos here.
