Britney Spears has been working hard for the past few months to get her life and career back on track. Her dad, Jamie Spears has been pulling all of the financial strings and is in fact drawing a salary from his daughter for services rendered. Apparently running her life is a full time proposition, leaving him no spare time to work in the catering business that used to be his source of income.
Brit has done a couple of How I Met Your Mother episodes, has reportedly been back in the music studio and recently enjoyed a Costa Rican getaway with Mel Gibson and his family. Upon her return, Britney was spotted having dinner with billionaire George Maloof, owner of the Palms Hotel and Casino in Vegas. Rumors are flying that the two were discussing a possible comeback extravaganza Vegas stage show. Britney’s manager Larry Rudolph is apparently trying to downplay that tidbit.
One project that has been nixed involved a furniture designer. Danish entrepreneur Claus Hjelmbak had approached Spears to endorse a line of shabby-chic Scandinavian furniture. The original deal would have had the singer’s name on a furniture piece called a “Woofy”. It is a $200 plastic dog that hides electrical wire in your home. Jamie pulled out because he felt that Claus was just using Britney for publicity. Duh!
On a side note, we also heard this week that Court Commissioner Reva Goetz was told by Britney’s lawyer, Samuel Ingham, that the pop star is not yet fit to participate in court proceedings in her conservatorship case. He spent 90 minutes going over her condition, which has been described as “fluid” because her treatment is changing. Her probate case is scheduled to go to trial July 31, but her lawyer said that it could be harmful for her to participate.
