Karissa and Kristina Shannon are moving out of the Playboy Mansion and into the Playmate House so they will be “free to do other things,” according to Hugh Hefner.

Hefner, 83, and the 20-year-old Shannon twins tweeted about their imminent departure on Tuesday.

“The Shannon Twins are growing up. They’re moving to the Playmate House with my blessing so they will be free to do other things,” Hefner posted on his Twitter page.

“Were looking forward to moving to the Playmate House, But we still love Hef & want to remain close,” tweeted the twins.

Hefner says his relationship with girlfriend Crystal Harris is getting more serious, and the twins are interested in doing more Playmate-related promotional work.

“They’ve been hanging out with a lot of the other Playmates, and they see these girls traveling across the country to do promotion,” he said. “They would like to be doing that, too,” says Hef.

Does this spell the end of E! reality series “The Girls Next Door?” Not necessarily. Hef says if the show gets picked up for another season, we’ll still be seeing some of the Shannon twins, just not as “girlfriends.” We’ll also see how his “relationships are changing romantically and how that relates to Crystal.”

Although the Playboy mogul is down to just one girlfriend now, he is getting a deluge of requests from girls who want to fill the Shannon twins’ vacated spots.

Hef tweeted, “News of Shannon Twins moving to the Playmate House has prompted others to ask about becoming girlfriends in their place.”
