If you listen to “The Howard Stern Show”, then you know co-host Artie Lange has not been around for some time. It is being reported that Lange was rushed to a New Jersey hospital on January 2nd for an undisclosed medical condition.
Artie’s rep told TMZ, “I can confirm that Artie is in the hospital. Artie has chosen to keep all information on this matter between him and his doctor. There will be no further comment.”
In addition to missing his gig with Stern, Artie has also been canceling stand-up shows in past weeks, including his New Year’s Eve engagement. You are out of luck if you had plans to take in one of Artie’s shows anytime soon because all dates through February have been canceled.
Lange has suffered for many years with addiction issues and got a DUI in July 2009. Blood tests showed he was under the influence of prescription sleeping pills when he was arrested.
Those around the comedian are keeping tight lipped about his status. Howard Stern will be returning to his radio show on Monday. Artie fans will be listening with interest to see if the radio jock mentions his sidekick.
