Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson hit the red carpet at the Los Angeles premiere of the biographical comedy-drama ‘Saving Mr. Banks’ Monday at Hollywood’s TCL Chinese Theatre.

Vamping for photographers was his co-host Emma Thompson, who portrays ‘Mary Poppins’ author Pamela P.L. Travers. The 54-year-old British actress and comedian won a Best Actress Academy Award in 1993 for ‘Howards End.’

She once flippantly told a reporter, “I’m an atheist. I suppose you could call me a Libertarian Anarchist. I regard religion with fear and suspicion. It’s not enough to say that I don’t believe in God. I actually regard the system as distressing.”

Hanks lost a considerable amount of weight in the past year after learning that he has Type 2 Diabetes. He married actress and producer Rita Wilson in 1988. They have two sons — Chester, 23, and Truman, 18.

‘Saving Mr. Banks,’ starring the A-lister as Walt Disney, hits U.S. theaters in limited release on December 13 and wide release a week later.
