Brittany Murphy 1977-2009
A private funeral service for Brittany Murphy will take place on Thursday evening at Hollywood Hills Forest Lawn Cemetery. The actress was discovered unresponsive by her mother on Sunday morning and was pronounced dead at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles after paramedics were unable to revive her – see police photos here.
Simon Monjack and the deceased woman’s mother Sharon Murphy have planned an invitation only Christmas Eve service with both Christian and Jewish clergy officiating. A larger memorial service will take place in early 2010, according to spokesman Alex Ben Block.
The 32-year-old was reportedly ill in the days leading up to her death. Autopsy results are pending, with toxicology results expected to take six weeks.
Monjack, who has a checkered past, said that his wife had been treated for laryngitis in the days leading up to her death. He believes she was exhausted following a grueling film schedule. Graphic death photos from several of her last films have surfaced.
