Abuse of prescriptions drugs is becoming an epidemic among the well connected in Hollywood. Mixing prescription medications has proven to be toxic and even fatal. Anna Nicole Smith, DJ AM, Heath Ledger, Michael Jackson, Corey Haim and Brittany Murphy are just a few of the most tragic cases.
The owner of Eddie’s Pharmacy in Los Angeles has come forward, admitting that he got to the point where he refused to fill Brittany Murphy’s prescriptions, some four months before her death. Pharmacist Eddie Bauber assumed that Brittany was filling her prescriptions at numerous pharmacies and stated, “We thought there was going to be an accident there.” Bauber was right and had every reason to be suspicious.
Bauber said he filled over 100 prescriptions for Brittany and her family from January 2008 to August 2009. The drugs, averaging 200 pills per month, included hydrocodone (Vicodin), clonazepam and Klonopin (anti-anxiety) and Vicoprofen (Vicodin/ibuprofen combo).
According to numerous sources, Brittany used the following alias: Lola Manilow Murphy, Kathelyn Moore, Trevor Williams, and Faith Gosselin. Brittany’s husband Simon Monjack has confirmed that there were aliases used because of the lack of privacy in Hollywood.
Clearly Brittany Murphy was struggling with addiction and dare we suggest that her husband and family were enabling her as was her personal physician. Doctor Richard Kroop wrote the prescriptions and is now under investigation.
