A Bigfoot hoax went terribly wrong in Montana over the weekend when a man dressed in a military-style “ghillie” camo suit was run over and killed.

Randy Lee Tenley, 44, of Kalispell, Montana died at the scene along U.S. Highway 93 near Flathead Lake late Sunday night.

Montana Highway Patrol Lt. Col. Butch Huseby remarked, “This is one of the dumbest things I’ve ever seen. Really.”

The deceased was wearing a suit covered in a thick foliage-like material, an outfit generally worn by hunters and military snipers.

At 10:30 p.m. Tenley ran out into the intersection onto a two-lane road and was struck by two cars. The drivers were teenage girls age 15 and 17.

The victim’s friend, also at the scene, admitted to police that the ill-fated stunt was intended to be a Bigfoot hoax.

Police believe that alcohol may have been a factor. An official investigation is underway including toxicology tests.
