The U.S. Secret Service has arrested a woman accused of operating a credit card scheme targeting some of Hollywood’s biggest stars.
Maria Gabriella Perez runs a swanky Beverly Hills salon called Chez Gabriela Studio and is accused of stealing credit card information from wealthy clients including Jennifer Aniston, Liv Tyler, Melanie Griffith, Anne Hathaway and Scott Speedman.
Perez, 51, is accused of “fraudulently approximately $280,000 worth of charges in a one year period.”
According to an affidavit filed in the United States District Court, the beautician swindled around $214,000 from Tyler alone over a five-month period last year.
Perez has been charged with two counts of fraud and faces a maximum prison sentence of 25 years if she is convicted.
The website for Perez’s Beverly Hills salon describes the beautician as a ‘leading esthetician in the beauty care world’ and features autographed photos of some of her A-list clients.
