Vice President Joe Biden‘s son Beau Biden is undergoing treatment at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware after being admitted this morning for what is being described as a mild stroke. Beau Biden experienced some discomfort and a headache so he went to the hospital emergency room to be checked out.

Dr. Timothy Gardner, Medical Director of the Center of Heart and Vascular Surgery at Christiana Care Center System said, “Delaware Attorney General Beau Biden was admitted this morning to Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware after having what we believe to be a mild stroke. He is fully alert, in stable condition and has full motor and speech skills. We expect him to make a complete recovery.”

The Delaware Attorney General is 41-years-old, just four years younger than his father was when he underwent two life-threatening brain surgeries for aneurysms in 1988.

Joe Biden’s office released a short statement earlier this morning: “He is alert and awake, and communicating with his parents and his wife, who are with him.” V.P Biden and his wife Dr. Jill Biden canceled their schedules to be with their son.

Beau Biden and his wife Hallie have two children: a daughter, Natalie and a son, Hunter.

In his capacity as Delaware Attorney General, Biden was scheduled to speak this evening at the University of Delaware on the topic of “My Life in Public Service”.

Secret Service agents are reportedly stationed at the entrance to the emergency room and a number of government issue SUV’s have been stationed at another entrance.

Beau Biden is a member of the Delaware Army National Guard. His unit was activated and deployed to Iraq on October 3, 2008, returning home on September 2009 after his year long deployment.
