Look, there’s a lot of pressure that comes with trying to replace Joan Rivers.
Joan had an old-school style that still worked in the 21st Century, and she could make A-list stars feel flattered to be dissed.
But it was a delicate formula. She chose her targets carefully and made sure the put-downs were funny enough that even her targets had to stifle a laugh.
Kathy Griffin made her debut as Joan-lite on last night’s episode of Fashion Police, and she made an unfortunate choice with one of her first victims.
“Yeah, she’s annoying,” said Griffin as a photo of Amal Alamuddin at the Golden Globes appeared on screen. “You heard me! Everybody run in fear! I thought it was weird that she had those gloves that remind me of, like, a porn scene.”
