All these months, we thought Iggy Azalea’s most impressive physical feature was her booty. Turns out it’s actually her ability to put her foot in her mouth.
Responding to criticism from Azealia Banks and other rappers who feel she’s gotten rich from appropriating black culture, while showing no concern or appreciation for the struggles of African-Americans, Iggy spoken out about her place in the hip hop community recently.
Turns out, she believes haters hate because she’s a woman, not because she’s white. Color us confused:
“Well, they don’t say stuff about Macklemore,” Iggy said in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. “So yes, I think it has 100,000 percent to do with the fact that I have a [vagina].”
“I never thought it was strange. If you go back to the Rolling Stones and Elvis Presley and Eminem – they’ve all basically done black music. I felt this wasn’t far from what we’ve seen in music history over and over again.”
Many have pointed out that Macklemore has indeed been criticized, he simply didn’t respond in the same prickly, petulant matter as Iggy.
Many of those same people also pointed out that comparing yourself to Elvis isn’t the greatest response when you’ve been accused of racial insensitivity. Just sayin’.
