Jamie Foxx will take on the role of Martin Luther King Jr. in a biopic to be directed by Oliver Stone and produced by Steven Spielberg.

The Warner Bros. and DreamWorks project is an authorized retelling of MLK’s life story with the civil-rights leader’s family advising the production.

Stone is eager to get to work, after a significant break since he last stood behind the camera for ‘Savages’ in 2012. He has received three Academy Awards for his work on the films ‘Midnight Express,’ ‘Platoon,’ and ‘Born on the Fourth of July.’

Foxx has four movies slated to be released in 2014: the 3D computer-animated ‘Rio 2,’ the superhero film ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2,’ a musical-drama produced by rapper Jay-Z and Will Smith titled ‘Annie,’ and the comedy sequel ‘Horrible Bosses 2.’

Rumors have been swirling recently regarding a possible romance between the actor and pal Tom Cruise’s ex-wife Katie Holmes. Foxx stated emphatically on Tuesday through his rep, “The rumors are 100 percent not true. In fact, it’s quite hilarious because we simply danced at a charity event along with a lot of other people.”

The 45-year-old actor has two daughters: Corine Bishop, 19, and Annalise, 4.
