Amid rumors that Jenny McCarthy may soon be ousted from her co-hosting duties on ABC’s ‘The View,’ her boss issued the totally expected denial through a show rep.

A Barbara Walters spokesperson issued a terse response, “There is absolutely no truth to these reports.”

End of story, right? Not so fast. We’ve heard the very same denials when rumors suggested that Elisabeth Hasselbeck was leaving the show, and when sources claimed Walters was about to announce a retirement date. That said — who knows whether McCarthy has already worn out her welcome just a month after joining the morning talk show panel.

The latest speculation was fueled by reports that show co-creator and producer Bill Geddie is having second thoughts about bringing Jenny on board when Season 17 kicked off on Sept. 9, 2013.

Premiere week averaged 3 million total viewers, slightly below the rating received during Whoopi Goldberg‘s debut week back in 2007.

The show last won a Daytime Emmy in 2009 for Outstanding Talk Show Host. At that time the panelists were Goldberg, Behar, Shepherd, Hasselbeck and Walters.

McCarthy, 40, is known for her quick wit, outrageous sense of humor and her unfiltered take on just about everything. She replaced the decidedly conservative Republican Hasselbeck, who strongly supported the Bush administration and regularly received talking points from the White House to support her position against the rest of her co-hosts.

We’ll be keeping close tabs on Sherri Shepherd in the coming weeks. She has leaked more than one hot scoop in the past and if anyone is going to let something slip — it will be her.
