Season six of ‘Parks and Recreation’ will signal the mid-season exit of series co-stars Rob Lowe and Rashida Jones.

Fans of the popular NBC sitcom should prepare themselves now for the departure of Chris Traeger and Ann Perkins – timed to occur during February sweeps. Their departure will occur during week 13 of 22 episodes.

Lowe, 49, got his start with the series in a guest role that quickly morphed into a regular gig. Jones, 36, has portrayed the best friend of Amy Poehler’s character since the show premiered in 2009.

Their final season kicks off on Sept. 26, with an hour-long premiere that was filmed in London.

Make no mistake – NBC considers Rob Lowe a hot commodity. The network is working on a development deal with the actor for a potential new series.

He’ll appear next in a National Geographic Channel film adaptation of ‘Killing Kennedy,’ based on a book penned by Bill O’Reilly. Lowe will take on the challenging role of President John F. Kennedy. Actress Ginnifer Goodwin will play First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy.
