Reality stars Teresa Giudice and her husband Joe Giudice appeared before federal authorities this morning in Newark, N.J., and were each released on $500,000 bond, opting not to enter a plea during their initial hearing.
The ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ celebs were ordered to surrender passports and are not allowed to travel beyond New Jersey and New York until further notice.
An arraignment hearing is scheduled for Aug. 14, when Teresa is expected to plead not guilty.
A grand jury charged the couple, in a 39-count indictment Monday, with conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, bank fraud, making false statements on loan applications and bankruptcy fraud. See details here.
If convicted the couple could face up to 30 years in prison. Joe, who is not a U.S. citizen, faces possible deportment to Italy if convicted. He was informed this morning that because of his status, he must submit to drug testing while the case is pending.
The couple have four daughters.
