Comedian Kathy Griffin revealed during a stand-up engagement Friday night in Cincinnati that her talk show, ‘Kathy,’ has been canceled.
She tweeted yesterday, “Sad but true. Appreciate your kind words.”
The often sharp-tongued 52-year-old first gained fame on Bravo with the reality show ‘Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List’ that ran from 2005-2010. During the five year stint she earned two Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality Program.
Griffin began hosting her own late-night talk show,’Kathy’ in April 2012. She appeared every Thursday in the 10:00 p.m. time slot and got renewed for second season beginning in January 2013. The network moved her to 11:30 p.m. before pulling the plug entirely due to poor ratings.
She has a flair for all thing controversial, and has publicly targeted Sarah Palin and her daughter Bristol Palin on a number of occasions.
Kathy and her New Years Eve sidekick Anderson Cooper have appeared for the past several years live from Times Square.
His talk show ‘Anderson Live’ taped its final episode on March 29, 2013. He and Kathy recently filmed an hour-long test show for CNN, in front of a live studio audience in the Time Warner Center in New York.
The project remains hush-hush for now but if all goes well Cooper and Griffin may soon be back on the air together.
