Anne Hathaway received yet another Best Supporting Actress award for her role in ‘Le Miserables,’ this time at the BAFTA’s on Sunday in London.

The actress seemed genuinely shocked as she made her way to the stage to accept a trophy from Hollywood A-lister George Clooney.

Dressed in a black Burberry gown with silver studs on the bodice and waistband, the actress brushed past the high-profile actor before turning around to give him what appeared to be a heartfelt hug.

When she stepped up to the microphone she blurted, “I almost passed George Clooney without hugging him…that’s just stupid.”

Things then really took a strange turn as she rambled, “Thank you BAFTA, I’m so honored. I’m so relieved, I’m coming down with laryngitis because of the location, the giddiness… this could be a recipe for disaster. I might sing.”

When the remarks didn’t produce a laugh, she trudged on, “Anyway, that didn’t go over well, it went better in my head.” That did get the desired reaction.

Hathaway referenced cast member Eddie Redmayne, who was apparently retching backstage with a case of food poisoning. She lamented while pointing at her award, “Eddie, feel better. I’d be holding your hair back but, you know. Tells you the kind of friend I am. Food poisoning is just the worst.”

She thanked nearly everyone on the planet, including the long dead French author (1802-1885) of ‘Les Miserables.’ Hathaway said, “My very special thanks are reserved for Victor Hugo, without whom none of us would be here.” Then she wrapped things with a quick, “Thank you so much honey, I love you.”

The remark sent Twitter into overdrive. One tweeter asked, “Did Anne Hathaway just call Victor Hugo ‘honey?’ That’s the real story of this award season.”

Dare we suggest that she might want to commit a few prepared remarks to paper before the Oscars? Check out the video below:
