Country crooner Blake Shelton announced on his website that his father Dick Shelton died Tuesday in Oklahoma after a period of declining health.
Shelton gave his ailing dad a big shout out during the American Country Awards in Las Vegas in early December while picking up an award for Music Video of the Year. He said, “I want to say hi to my dad back home. He’s been having a pretty rough couple of weeks, and I know he’s watching tonight. I love you, Dad and I dedicate this to you, man. Thank you.”
Shelton will resume his Tour schedule on January 26 in Columbus, Georgia. The Honey Bee singer and wife Miranda Lambert have a big performance scheduled next month when they’ll sing America the Beautiful at this year’s Super Bowl pregame activities on Sunday, Feb. 5.
