Lindsay Lohan just caught a huge break. The 24-year-old actress surrendered to Los Angeles police at the Lynwood Jail this morning, only to be released shortly thereafter and placed on house arrest.

According to L.A. Sheriff’s spokesman Steve Whitmore: “She is now confined to the interior premises of her home at all times.”

Lilo checked in for booking at 5:02 a.m. Thursday, where it was determined that she would be placed on home confinement. She was fitted with an electronic ankle bracelet and released within the hour.

Lindsay was originally sentenced to four months in jail but due to overcrowding, budgeting issues, and her status as a nonviolent offender, she was eligible for house arrest.

The actress will be confined to her Venice Beach home for roughly 35 days. According to Whitmore, the ankle bracelet will not monitor or detect drug or alcohol use, but serve only to track her location.

Following her confinement, Lohan will continue to divide her time between a women’s center and an L.A. County morgue, where she has been ordered to complete 480 hours of community service.

The sentence was handed down after the actress pleaded no contest to stealing a necklace from a jewelry store in April 2011.

After getting her obligations behind her, Lilo will begin filming the Gotti: Three Generations biopic with John Travolta and Kelly Preston.
