And then there were three …
The Fox hit reality show American Idol eliminated another contestant on Thursday night’s show, revealing Season 10’s Top 3 … who will compete next week in the semi-finals.
Prior to this evening, James Durbin and Scotty McCreery had never been in the bottom two or three. Haley Reinhart has been in the bottom three a total of four times. Sixteen-year-old Lauren Alaina found herself in the bottom two last week, when Jacob Lusk got the Idol boot.
The Final Four really brought their A-game this week to their two performances – videos here.
Thursday night James and Scotty performed a Brad Paisley tune Start a Band, much to the delight of the audience. Haley and Lauren followed that up with their own rendition of the Miranda Lambert tune Gunpowder & Lead.
The first contestant to make it into the Top 3 was Lauren Alaina. She was followed by Haley Reinhart and later joined by Scotty McCreery.
This trio will be given rock star treatment when they travel back to their hometowns, via private jet, for a media orchestrated visit that will be shown on next week’s semi-final show.
The eliminated contestant, also heading home … but without fanfare, turned out to be James Durbin. The 22-year-old rocker from Santa Cruz, California, is the former lead singer for Hollywood Scars and Whatever Fits.
