Kirk Douglas was a ham, Melissa Leo dropped the F-Bomb …
The big winner for Best Picture last night at the 83rd Annual Academy Awards was, as expected, The King’s Speech. In addition Colin Firth won Best Actor, Tom Hooper earned Best Director and David Seidler took top honors for Original Screenplay.
Best Actress, also as expected, went to Natalie Portman for her performance in Black Swan. Best Supporting Actor and Actress honors went to Christian Bale and Melissa Leo for their portrayals in The Fighter.
Leo, who received her award from veteran actor and “ham” Kirk Douglas, dropped the F-Bomb during her bizarre acceptance speech. She later apologized for the gaffe, claiming she “just got caught up in the moment.”
A show highlight was the amazing performance by PS22 5th Grade Chorus, under the direction of Staten Island, New York’s resident pied piper Mr. “B”.
