Congratulations to country singer Blake Shelton who has been named the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry. On Saturday night his family and 4,000 fans joined him in Nashville for the ceremony, though his fiance Miranda Lambert was not in attendance.

Blake opened the evening with It’s All About Tonight and was later joined by his good friend Trace Adkins on stage, where the duo performed Hillbilly Bone. At the end of the ceremony Shelton closed the night with Home.

Trace was happy to be able to induct Blake into the Grand Ole Opry and admitted that he doesn’t have a ton of friends in the “business” due to his brutal honesty. He said, “I tell Blake what I think and he don’t care, he still talks to me.”

It was a very emotional night for Shelton, who was clearly choked up by the honor: “This is the reason you come to Nashville if you’re me. This is what I wanted from the beginning, to make a mark. I get the same feeling walking into the Opry House as I do when I see one of my heroes. The Grand Ole Opry is an artist and I am proud to be one of its songs.”

Shelton album Loaded: The Best of Blake Shelton will release on November 9.
