Brett Favre addressed the media on Wednesday, August 18, concerning his decision to honor his contract with the Minnesota Vikings. He was shepherded back to the Twin Cities from Hattiesburg, Mississippi on Tuesday, by fellow teammates Jared Allen, Ryan Longwell and Steve Hutchinson.
The 41-year-old veteran quarterback hit the practice field this morning at Winter Park, but admits his decision comes with a great deal of fear. He said during the afternoon media event that nothing is 100% but his ankle is feeling better.
He stands firm in his desire to go out on top. He acknowledges that he was so close last year that he wants to finish the thing he started with the Vikings. He said: “I owe it to this organization to give it one more try.”
He mentioned the fact that he is now a grandfather, and is looking for one more Super Bowl win, so that he can retire on the highest note. He believes that Minnesota’s title chances are must “greater than other places.”
Favre was emphatic about one thing — 2010 is absolutely his last year. This is where you may insert the snide comment of your choice.
