Karl Engemann frantically called 911 on May 28, claiming his daughter Shawn Southwick had taken too many pills but he didn’t think it was on purpose. She is the wife of Larry King.
The police are now reporting that there was a handwritten note found, indicating that she planned to commit suicide. Not only did she intend to end her life with an overdose, but she specified that she wanted to be buried in Provo, where the couple have a home.
Also found at the scene were several empty prescription bottles; one of them was Ambien and the other was an anti-anxiety medication. Other prescriptions found at her bedside were Compro, Prometrium, Conazepam, Klonopin, Subutex, Cymbalta and Lyrica — all filled within the past 10 days.
Subutex is used to treat narcotic addiction. Cymbalta is an anti-depressant, Lyrica is used to prevent seizures…Klonopin and Clonazepam are anti-anxiety medications.
King and Southwick filed for divorce in April, but reconciled quickly. The couple have two sons – see family photos.
