We are willing to bet that Britney Spears deeply regrets passing up what could have been a chart topper for her. Apparently Lady Gaga’s monster hit “Telephone” was originally written for Brit Brit, and lucky for us a demo version of her performance has made its way to the Internet. Keep in mind — it is not a final cut, but it definitely gives the listener an idea of how it might have sounded.
We have to say that we prefer Lady G’s version much better. Britney’s rendition is auto-tuned to the point where at certain parts you can’t even be sure it’s her — and of course it’s missing the lovely Beyonce. What we may never understand is why she turned the song down. With Britney on lead vocals, the song would likely have been a hit.
As it turned out, what music fans ended up with was the amazing collaboration of Gaga and Beyonce and the interesting video that came with it. Some things are just meant to be…and Gaga doing “Telephone” is one of them.
