Reality show mom Kate Gosselin launched her third book on April 13, 2010 and it has plunged to the depths within the critical first two weeks. “I Just Want You to Know: Letters to My Kids on Love, Faith, and Family” has sold a measly 10,000 copies.
Gosselin’s first two books, “Multiple Blessings” and “Eight Little Faces” reached #5 on the New York Times best seller list. The new offering debuted at #11 on the New York Times list and #103 on USA Today’s bestseller chart. The book’s Amazon.com ranking today was #862.
Jim Milliot of Publishers Weekly said the numbers indicate it is “nowhere near a blockbuster” and “not that impressive”. Kate’s first book sold 500,000 copies. Milliot indicated that early sales are a key indicator of how a book will do. He said, “Gosselin will have a very rough time getting to 50,000. I think it will be a disappointment in the end.”
Apparently the fallout from the divorce drama has taken its toll on Kate’s credibility. Her stint on Dancing with the Stars was well received by her fans and detractors alike, despite the fact that she couldn’t dance, but it didn’t generate any interest in her latest literary offering.
Thankfully TLC has several new reality show projects in the works so the Wernersville mother can continue to earn a good living in order to support the twins and sextuplets.
