Protesters are taking a stand on smoking and the advertisements that are viewed by children. Singer Kelly Clarkson is under fire for billboard ads that are advertising her concert in Indonesia, because one of her major sponsors for the venue is Djarum cigarette company.
The tobacco company is sponsoring Clarkson’s April 29th concert in Jakarta and has plastered their L.A. Lights brand smokes all over the billboards.
Several years ago the same thing happened to singer Alicia Keys and she insisted that all the logos be taken off the billboards immediately. Protesters are looking for Kelly to follow suit.
The president of Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids, Matt Myers stated, “If Kelly Clarkson goes ahead with the concert, she is by choice being a spokesman for the tobacco industry and helping them to market to children.”
Myers went on to say that Kelly has the power to turn this around and send a great message to the children — not only in Indonesia but in the U.S. as well.
