Sarah Palin‘s social security number has been plastered on the internet for all to see.
According to reports, Palin’s social security number was included in a Democratic Party opposition file obtained by the Politico.
Ben Smith from the Politico said the document was prepared for Tony Knowles two years ago, although he did not reveal the source of the information, adding, “You should also note that it’s a partially REDACTED social security number. That seems relevant. If less sensational. It’s missing four digits.”
Although it is not clear how or if the Democratic Party used the information, the report contained all but the last four digits of Palin’s social security number, as well as her home address and birthdate, making it much easier to track down the other four digits for someone else to use.
Why the Politico chose to partially redact the number instead of fully redacting it is also unclear, although they have now removed the information from their site.
Sarah Palin has been doggedly attacked in the media since being announced on Friday as John McCain‘s running mate. Over the weekend rumors surfaced that Palin’s Down Syndrome baby actually belongs to 17-year-old daughter Bristol. Although those rumors were quickly rebuffed, Sarah issued a statement on Monday that Bristol is five months pregnant and has chosen to keep the baby and marry the father, 18-year-old high school senior Levi Johnston.
Johnston will be joining the Palin family in St. Paul, Minnesota for the GOP convention where John McCain will officially receive the Republican nomination for President.
